By the grace of Waheguru Ji, on 26 August 2026, Manukhta Di Sewa Parivar was given the opportunity to serve an elderly man who identified himself as Gurmeet Singh. He was found near Chatiwind Canal on Tarn Taran Road in Sri Amritsar Sahib.
Bapu Ji had been living in extremely distressing conditions beneath a bridge. Maggots had eaten deep into one of his feet, reaching the bones. When we approached him and began speaking with him, the first thing he did was recite a verse from Gurbani. He then told us that his name was Gurmeet Singh. After that, he asked us, “Have you brought a Kachhera for me?”
It is deeply shameful for our society that elderly people from Punjab, who remain connected to the Guru’s teachings, are left to suffer on the streets in such conditions.
Bapu Ji said that he had previously performed sewa at a Gurdwara in Adampur. According to him, he once made a mistake there and committed theft at the Gurdwara, for which he believes he is now being punished. How much truth there is in this account is known only to Waheguru Ji and Bapu Ji. However, his present condition was worse than hell.
During our conversation, Bapu Ji said that his village was in Gurdaspur district. However, his condition was so critical that he was unable to speak clearly or provide complete details.
Bapu Ji has now been brought to Supnian De Ghar for care and treatment. Please pray that he recovers quickly while staying here.
